Happy Birthday Mr Islander

Yesterday, "Mr Islander" Bob Nystrom celebrated his 62nd birthday.

In 900 games for the Islanders, Nystrom had 513 points including 235 goals.  What Nystrom is known for didn't happen during the regular season though.  It happened in the playoffs on May 24th, 1980 when Nystrom scored the goal that won the Islanders their first Stanley Cup in team history.  For his many contributions to the team, the Islanders retired Nystroms jersey on April 1st, 1995.  Even after retiring from hockey, Nystrom has remained on the Islander and can be often found at various Islander events from time to time.  We look forward to seeing him many times at the Coliseum this upcoming season.

We here at savetheisles would like to wish Mr. Islander a very Happy Birthday.
