@Real_ESPNLeBrun. Told Boyle is intrigued by Isles offer and interest, but remains undecided. Still firm on a 2 year deal.

According to ESPN, Garth Snow is shopping the rights to UFA to be defenseman Dan Boyle after the Islanders were unable to sign the veteran.
Boyle's rights were acquired by the Islanders on June 5th for a conditional 5th round pick in next years draft. Quickly, reports came out giving little to no chance to sign him to a contract. That seemed to possibly change though as it was rumored the Islanders made him a big money offer for 2 years which Boyle was considering.
Isles GM Garth Snow says he's now shopping Dan Boyle's rights, having been unable to sign the pending UFA defenseman...

While disappointing, this shouldn't come as much of a surprise. This is probably going to be Boyle's last contract before retiring and he probably wants to go to a team that has a chance to do some damage in the playoffs and based off their recent history the Islanders aren't that team. Now, it should be interesting how Snow responds to this. Will he continue to try to acquire an effective defenseman? Or will Griffin Reinhart be the teams only notable change on defense next season? As much as I hope its the first option, it would not shock me at all if it is the latter which is unfortunate.
