Leading up to the NHL Draft in Philly, speculation ran rampant that the Islanders could potentially trade their 5th overall pick in an effort to get more established talent to help the team next season.
In the end they couldn't find a trade partner and ended up keeping the pick and drafting left winger Michael Dal Colle. Check out our profile of Dal Colle here to learn more about the young winger.
While I am not thrilled that we kept the pick, I do like Dal Colle. He fits the needs of the Islanders as a high end forward prospect that we severely lack. Additionally, he seems to be a real character guy which as we all know is something the Islanders place a lot of value on.
