According to Bob McKenzie of TSN, the Islanders could under the right circumstances have interest in Vancouver goalie Roberto Luongo.
McKenzie speculates that any deal for Luongo would include Islanders goalie Rick Dipietro for compliance buy out purposes. Having Dipietro involved in a deal would be a bit of irony seeing as Luongo was dealt by the Islanders back in 2000 to make room for the newly drafted Dipietro.
The first step is for the Islanders to gauge the cost of Evgeni Nabokov, McKenzie said.
While I am not a fan of Luongos contract by a long shot. It can't be denied that he is a heck of a goalie and would be a great fit with us. As much as I love Nabby, if we have a chance to upgrade the team we have to do it!
