Tonight, to open the season, our Islanders once again lost the home opener. This time by a score of 2-1 to the Devils. Here are some of my notes from the game:
-10 shots through 2 periods? That is a terrible job by the offense, you cant beat a goalie if you don't shoot on him.
-Finley over Radek on defense? It doesn't matter if Cappy/Thompson/Weight wanted big bodies. That was an absolutely brutal move, Finley looked terrible tonight.
-Could someone please explain scratching Casey to play Reasoner? Reasoner is a guy who brought 0 to the team last year and yet a rebuilding team scratched a 23 year old center to play him tonight.
-Nabokov was sharp and gave the Islanders a chance to win.
-Nice goal by Hamonic
-Great, great crowd tonight!! They were into before they even stepped into the arena which is always good.
- Tavares didn't look like he had missed a step which is encouraging.
Overall, on the back-end it wasn't a bad start. However, for the forwards, back to the drawing board because tonight wasn't good!
Next Game: Monday @ 1:00PM vs the Lightning
