This morning, the morning when arbitration eligible players around the NHL had the chance to file none of the players on the Islanders did.
There was really only one forward who probably considered filing and that is now the NHL record holder for most hits in a season Matt Martin.
Matt put up consistent offensive numbers last year to his previous season and his skating and fighting showed great improvement. Also, as was just stated he set the NHL record for most hits in a season. The fact that he didn't file for arbitration more then likely means that him and the Islanders aren't far off on a contract which is a good sign after the trouble they had with getting his entry level contract ironed out.
