The topic of Vanek spurning the Islanders last year naturally came up and Vanek had some interesting things to say about it. He told media that he was scared off by the Islanders impending move to Brooklyn and that if they were staying at the Coliseum he probably would've resigned.
Vanek says main reason why he didn't sign with #Isles was move to Brooklyn. Probably would have stayed if team remained in Nassau.

I am not sure I buy this because this seems like an easy excuse for Vanek to use instead of saying what we all knew was true, that he wanted to play in Minnesota and no place else.
