Today, Islanders defenseman Nick Leddy is celebrating his 24th birthday.
Leddy, who the Islanders acquired on October 4th from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for a package of prospects including Ville Pokka has fit right in on the Islanders blue line. He has fit so well that late last month the Islanders announced that they had signed Leddy to a 7 year extension with an average annual value of 5.5 million dollars per season.
In his first season on Long Island, Leddy has dazzled fans with his fantastic skating ability. Additionally, he has set a career high in goals for himself with 10 passing his previous total of 8. He has really benefited from the increased ice time with the Islanders, especially on the power play which wouldn't have happened for him in Chicago because of the likes of Brent Seabrook and Duncan Keith. He has also benefited from playing alongside Johnny Boychuk for most of the season and Boychuks stellar play in his own zone.
We here at savetheisles would like to wish Leddy a very Happy Birthday and look forward to sharing many more with him throughout his contract with the Islanders.
