Isles Activate, Waive Carkner

According to Newsday, earlier today, the Islanders activated defenseman Matt Carkner off IR.  If you recall, Carkner had back surgery which has kept him out until this point.

Following activating him, the Islanders placed him on waivers.  Unless he gets claimed, Carkner will go to Bridgeport to get back into some game action as he works his way back toward the NHL.

I am surprised he is making a return.  When he got injured most made it seem like that he would never skate in an Isles uniform again.
