Nielsen Late Goal Leads Isles Over Coyotes 1-0

Tonight, in a game that can be classified as a goalie duel, the Islanders were able to come out victorious for their third straight win by a score of 1-0 over the Coyotes.  Here are some of my notes from the game:

-Great effort from Halak tonight, he looked sharp all game which is very encouraging to see.

-Great shot and release by Nielsen on the winning goal.

-Mike Smith played unbelievable for Arizona.

-Penalty kill had yet another stellar effort tonight.  I don't know what happened, but it is good to see that the penalty kill seems to have woken up after a bad start to the season.

-The second unit power play continued to struggle tonight.  Maybe a player switch or something needs to be made because they haven't been doing much of anything the last few games.

A week ago, after the Islanders loss to the Sharks, if you told me they would finish this trip 3-2 I probably would've told you that you were crazy.  The fact they were able to do it though and in some cases impressive fashion like they did is a very encouraging sign for this team.  They need to keep their foot on the gas pedal so to speak though and not give teams a chance.  If they are able to do this, they should be able to have a successful November for the first time in a long time.

Next Game: Tuesday @ Home Vs Colorado
