Isles Trade Pedan to Vancouver For 3rd Round Pick & Prospect

According to Newsday, the Islanders have traded defenseman Andrey Pedan to the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for a 2016 3rd round pick and ECHL forward Alexandre Mallet.
Pedan was a third round pick by the Islanders back in 2011.  So far, in 34 games in the AHL, Pedan managed to put up 15 points and 101 PIMS.  He had seemed to gain a reputation as one of the tougher guys on the Sound Tigers this season.

Meanwhile, Mallet was a 2nd round pick by the Canucks in the 2012 draft.  Mallet has played 77 games in the AHL thus far and put up just six points in that time period.  He also has played 58 games in the ECHL where he has put up 40 points including 14 goals.  The Islanders also added to their draft pick depth which had taken a bit of a hit with the deals for Vanek last season and Boychuk earlier this year by acquiring the Canucks third round pick next year.
