Update: According to the Islanders official site, they have placed Grabovski on IR retroactive to October 16th. Placing him on IR means that he probably isn't as close to coming back as they maybe initially thought. I can't see them placing him on IR to take him off 2 or 3 days later.
Forward Mikhail Grabovski left the Islanders 4-3 shootout win on Thursday night in the first period after taking a huge hit from Sharks forward John Scott.
Following the game, Grabovski passed all the concussion tests. However, he woke up the next morning with concussion like symptoms, according to Newsday. With this, he is now on concussion protocol and out indefinitely. Arthur Staple reports that the team might call someone up from Bridgeport after their game today.
Even with the teams new found depth, Grabovski is a loss that will be felt for the Islanders. His line with Brock Nelson and Ryan Strome had been very effective in the first three games. For Grabovski and the Islanders sake, hopefully he is back sooner rather than later. If they end up calling someone up to take his spot, I expect it to be Anders Lee.
