Hamonic Suspended/Cappy Fined

With a little under 5 minutes left in the third period of this afternoons game, Islanders defenseman Travis Hamonic was ejected from the game for essentially mugging Ryan Carter after a borderline late hit on Andrew MacDonald.

NHL rules stipulate that instigating a fight in the final five minutes of a game carries with it an automatic one game suspension.  With that suspension, Hamonic will not be suiting up for the finale of the homestand tomorrow afternoon against the Panthers.  On top of the suspension, coach Jack Capuano was fined $10,000 as well.

This happened after Hamonic had already fought and defeated Steve Bernier earlier in the period.

While a majority of the team was lifeless at least Hamonic tried to do something to spark them.  Although, his play on Carter wasn't the wisest decision on his part.  I would expect to see Radek Martinek in the lineup tomorrow in his absence.
