Earlier today, reports came out that the Islanders had signed ex Islander forward Jon Sim to a 25 game tryout contract with their AHL affiliate the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.
In 162 games with the Islanders between the 07/08 season and 10/11 season Sim had 65 points. The Islanders ended up releasing Sim after he refused to report to Bridgeport after clearing waivers.
To say I was caught off guard by this is quite the understatement. I want to be upset about it because Sim is from the previous era of this team and is something were supposed to be getting away from. However, this is only for Bridgeport who has really been struggling this year so I guess every little bit helps for them.
