Another topic discussed by Wang and Botta was the teams impending move to the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
Dating back for years, Wang always said that no matter what happened the team would full-fill its lease in Nassau County through the 2014/2015 season. However, that seems to have changed a little bit. On the topic of the team moving to Brooklyn in time for the 2014/2015 season Wang had this to say, "Would be nice if we could. There's maybe an opportunity. Would make sense."
Wang later told Newsday relating to this topic that they aren't in any discussions but if it made sense for everyone that they would move a year early. But all their plans right now are to start there [in Brooklyn] in the 2015/2016 season.
Regarding the team when they move to Brooklyn, Wang said that the Nets and Barclays staff will run the Islanders business side while Snow and Wang will still oversee hockey operations.
Could this be the beginning of Wang slowly relinquishing ownership of the team? He isn't getting any younger after-all. That is certainly an interesting angle to keep an eye on.
