Isles To Open In Pittsburgh! Traffic Troubles For Game 3?

Well, with the Ottawa Senators defeating the Bruins tonight, that set the Islanders first round matchup with the Penguins in stone.

The series will open at 7:30 on Wednesday in Pittsburgh and game 2 will be Friday in Pittsburgh.  Meanwhile game three will be at the Coliseum Sunday at 12:00 noon (more on that later.)  Game 4 will be Tuesday at the Coliseum at 7:00.  Full schedule can be found below:

Traffic Troubles For Game 3?

Coincidentally, the day of the first playoff home game is also the day of the LI Marathon, an annual event for decades in this area.  The event starts on Charles Lindbergh BLVD right behind the Coliseum that morning and ends in Eisenhower park.

The marathon is going to make traveling to the game early for some quite a hassle.  Here are a list of road closures for the marathon courtesy of Newsday:


"Charles Lindbergh Boulevard, 5:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.; MerrickAvenue, north of Hempstead Turnpike, 7:30 a.m. to 9:45 a.m.; Old Country Road from Post Avenue to School Street: 7:45 a.m. to 10 a.m.;
School Street from Old Country Road to Railroad Avenue, 7:45 a.m. to 10 a.m.; Railroad Avenue, 7:45 a.m. to 10 a.m.; Post Avenue from Railroad Avenue to Jericho Turnpike, 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.; Wantagh Parkway from Northern State Parkway to Merrick Road, 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Salisbury Park Drive southbound, 7:45 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.; JerichoTurnpike eastbound from Post Road to Brush Hollow Road, 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.; Brush Hollow Road north of Wantagh Parkway, 8:15 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.; Carmen Avenue from Old Country Road to Nottingham Road, 8:15 a.m. to 2 p.m.;
Meadowbrook Parkway exits and entrances to and from Charles Lindbergh Boulevard and Eisenhower Park, 5:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.; Eisenhower Park’s Park Boulevard will not allow through traffic from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.; Hempstead Turnpike entrance to the park will remain open with a turnaround at the golf course until 10 a.m."
