Tonight, our Islanders travel to the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh to take on Sidney Crosby and the Penguins.
The goalie matchup features Evgeni Nabokov playing in his first back to back this year for the Islanders. He will likely be opposed by Penguins backup Tomas Vokoun with Marc Andre Fleury having played last night for the Penguins against Toronto.
According to Newsday, Andrew MacDonald will play today after having the boot of his skate cracked blocking a shot yesterday and getting 7 stitches to patch up a wound from a high stick. The team will also dress seven defensemen in warmups tonight.
For the Penguins, Evgeni Malkin is questionable after taking a big hit from Leafs forward James Van Riemsdyk in their game last night.
Sitting one point out of the eighth spot and two out of the seventh spot this game is big for the Islanders as they start this road trip. If they are able to stay in contention til the deadline, maybe they will be able to get the owner and GM to make a move or two to help strengthen the team to finally make a push for the playoffs.
