Today, before a crowd of over 15,000 our New York Islanders defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning by a score of 4-3. Here are some of my notes:
-Another great crowd today! If they have a good road trip the crowds will surely continue when they get home.
-Joe Finley is atrocious, the fact that he is in the lineup over Hickey, let a lone Martinek is insane!
-Nabakov had his second solid game in a row.
-Michael Grabner was all over the place today! Nice to see him finish the breakaway for the first goal.
-Keith Aucoin was good today, for a guy who has never had a regular spot in the NHL. If he keeps playing like he did today he will make it tough for the coaches to take him out.
-Matt Martin had a good game! Looked good in the fight off the opening draw and had a nice shot on his breakaway for his second goal.
-Third line was very effective! Ullstrom was solid all the way around and had a nice goal. Also McDonald brings really good grit to the lineup.
-Casey Cizikas was effective in his season debut
Overall, although the third period was a nail biter this is a big, much needed win as they head out on the road.
Next Game: Thursday 1/24 7PM @ Toronto
