Former Islander JP Parise Passes Away at 73

According to reports, former Islander JP Parise passed away today at the age of 73.  Parise had been battling lung cancer since early last year.  Last year, Michael Russo did a great story on him for the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

Parise played in 240 regular season games for the Islanders from 1974/1975-1977/1978.  In that time he managed to put up 171 points.  He of course is best remembered for his play in the playoffs though.  He participated in 41 playoff games for the Islanders and put up 34 points in those games.  One goal stands out more than the rest though.  That of course is the goal he scored against the Rangers in 1975 to give the Islanders their first ever playoff series victory.

We here at savetheisles would like to extend our deepest condolences to the Parise family and their friends.
