This afternoon, our Islanders fell by a score of 6-4 to the St Louis Blues. Here are some of my notes from the game:
-He had to have a let down game sooner or later and that was today for Jaroslav Halak. While he didn't have a lot of help in front of him, today was an effort I am sure he was disappointed with, especially against his former team.
-Given the injuries on defense, this was the kind of game you had to expect. The Blues being a big veteran team were able to exploit the Islanders weaknesses.
-Special teams were a key in this game, particularly the Islanders lack of efficiency on the penalty kill.
-Good to see Tavares put one to the back of the net. He had been snake bitten for a while, so hopefully that will get him going.
-While he did get a few assists, it has been a while since Okposo got in the goal scoring column.
-After what was a pretty effective first period, the offense almost disappeared for the entire second period. It was almost like they went into shutdown mode thinking they had the game on lockdown and the Blues made them pay for it.
Well, the team can't win every game. However, it was a shame to lose this game like this after the team played so well in the opening 20 minutes of play. It will be interesting to see how team rebounds against the Wild on Tuesday coming off this loss.
Next Game: Tuesday 8:00 @ Minnesota
