Tonight, our Islanders fell 3-1 to the Sharks. Here are some of my notes from the game:
-The penalty kill let the team down once again in the first period on the Sharks goal. You can't leave a guy out in front of the net by himself like they did and not expect to get burned.
-Doug Weight needs to start earning his paycheck as the power play was pretty bad once again tonight. After their roaring start, the power play has really fallen off a cliff over the last two weeks or so.
-Once again tonight, how in the world does Casey Cizikas get more time on ice than Ryan Strome and Anders Lee? Those two guys are supposed to be top 6 or at least top 9 forwards and future top 6 potentially first line players. They shouldn't be getting less ice time then the 4th line center. It makes no sense.
-Bad back check from Matt Martin on the Sharks third goal.
-Nice move and finish by Okposo on his goal.
-Good, effective game from Travis Hamonic in his return from injury.
Well, this certainly isn't how we expected this road trip to start. With the Ducks and Kings coming up next, the trip couldn't have started much worse. The Islanders need to get back to playing their game on a consistent basis otherwise this could join the long list of Novembers to forget.
Next Game: Wednesday 10:30 @ the Ducks
