According to a report from WEEI in Boston, Johnny Boychuk is open to signing a long term deal with the Islanders.
The report states, "...And Boychuk says he would be on board with re-upping with the Islanders." He continued that he would consider foregoing free agency and signing mid season if the Islanders made what his camp deemed a suitable offer, according to the report.
On the Islanders future he said, "Our team is going to be unbelievable for quite some time -- probably the next five years is going to be an awesome time for this team. It's not out of the question."
Well, this is quite different from stuff that was being published in the aftermath of the deal which gave the Islanders little to no chance to keep Boychuk beyond this season. Extending Boychuk long term would be a huge coup for the Islanders.
