Tonight, our Islanders return from the holiday break to play host to Cory Schneider and the division rival Devils.
The goalie match up tonight features Cory Schneider for the Devils and Evgeni Nabokov for the Islanders.
For the Devils, they will get their captain Bryce Salvador back in the lineup tonight. Salvador has missed the Devils last 30 games. The Devils also got Ryan Clowe back from injury last night and he will dress for them again tonight. Clowe had missed 32 games with a concussion and will be suiting up on the Devils fourth line to start.
There is one major roster change for the Islanders tonight and that is the absence of John Tavares. Tavares was ruled out of the lineup tonight suffering from a lower body injury. It is unknown how Tavares got this injury but it is believed to have been done at the hands of Tampa Bay defenseman Radko Gudas in the teams contest a couple weeks back. This will break Tavares consecutive games played streak as he hasn't missed a game since 10/15/10. Peter Regin will be active tonight with Brock Nelson hopping up a few lines to take Tavares spot as first line center. Meanwhile, on the back end Matt Carkner will start in place of Aaron Ness.
