Tavares Shootout Winner Powers Isles Over Senators

This afternoon, our Islanders defeated the Ottawa Senators for a rare home win by a score of 3-2 in a shootout.  Here are some of my notes from the game:

-Good game from Nabokov, no softies which is rare for him.

-Atrocious powerplay!  Failed even be able to set up a lot of the time which is unacceptable.

-Nice game from Matt Martin!  Really got under the Senators skin especially in the first period.  Good move picking his spots to fight and not fight.

-Nice goal from Grabner in the third, nice to see him come through with those type of chances.

-Sick move by Tavares in the shootout!  Even when hes sick he is still amazing.

-Nice to see Boyes finish on the first goal to!  He had a pretty good game, really shifty with his hands.  Gotta start to wonder if talks of an extension will start to pop up between the team and Boyes.

Well, it was bound to happen, a home win!  Once Ottawa got their tying goal with about a minute left, it seemed like the hockey gods were rearing their ugly heads on us again.  Luckily, our shootout team was able to secure us our third home victory of the season.  We got a tough week coming up to finish up the home stand, we will see what the team is made of.

Next Game: Tuesday @ Home Vs Montreal
