Baileys Shootout Goal Sends Isles To 8th Place Tie With the Rangers

Tonight, in a shootout our Islanders defeated the Flyers by a score of 4-3.  Here are some of my notes from the game:

-Even though he did let in a softie, Nabokov kept us in this game in period two and should be given a ton of credit.

-Congrats to Colin McDonald on his first NHL multi goal game, and his first fight as well.  Pretty good time to have your first NHL multi goal game.  McDonald is a real feel good story for the team this season and is in the running for the Bob Nystrom award I would thin.

-The team had way to many turnovers early on and it really costed them on the second Flyer goal.  It was good to see the teams resilience coming back from the deficit.

-Hickey had a rough game!

-Big goal by Tavares at the end of the second, it was fluky but it counts and was huge momentum going into the third period.  No matter how much his line struggles he always seems to put up points.

-Is something wrong with Moulson?  I know he is still on the point per game pace, but I feel like he was caught watching the play more then once which is really unlike him.

Well, the Islanders have surely taken care of business thus far on the trip.  Now comes the big test though, the hottest team in hockey then a Devils team currently in a playoff position but down their number one forward in Ilya Kovalchuk.  If we could somehow get two, even three points from our next two games, it will sure make things interesting as April 3rd comes around.

Next Game: Saturday @ The New Look Penguins
