photo courtesy of http://upload.wikimedia.org/According to Newsday, the Islanders have placed defenseman Brian Strait on IR after suffering an injury in todays game against the Flyers. Some Islander people believe he suffered a broken ankle which would come with a 6-8 week recovery time. If that is the case, that would pretty much end the defensemans season who had been impressive in his first season on Long Island.
The Islanders activated defenseman Radek Martinek off IR to take Straits roster spot. With this, I would expect to see Martinek or Hickey in the lineup tomorrow night against Ottawa in place of Strait.
