Today, our Islanders play host to Detroit for their second game of their three game home stand.
The goalie match up today features Jimmy Howard for the Red Wings and Kevin Poulin for the Islanders.
Detroit will look a little less intimidating today as forward Pavel Datsyuk will be out of the lineup for Detroit suffering from concussion like symptoms after taking an elbow to the chin by Ottawa defenseman Jared Cowen last weekend.
The Islanders lineup will look a little different today to as Colin McDonald and Radek Martinek will make their returns to the lineup this evening. To make room for them in the lineup, Josh Bailey and Calvin de Haan will join Eric Boulton as the teams healthy scratches.
It is about time Bailey got scratched, this is about 3 weeks over due in my opinion. However, color me surprised on de Haan. Why would you play Carkner over him especially against a team like Detroit that doesn't employ a goon? It makes absolutely no sense to me.
