Tonight, the Islanders play the third game of their 4 game home stand playing host to Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals.
For the Capitals, Ovechkin already has 20 goals on the season which is almost double the amount of the Islanders leader in that category. Ovechkin had a three point night the last time these teams meant on November 5th.
The goalie match up tonight features Braden Holtby presumably for the Capitals after Michael Neuvirth got hurt in warmups last night. Meanwhile, Anders Nilsson will be making his first start of the season for the Islanders.
The Islanders will see another playing making their season debut tonight as Calvin de Haan will be dressing on defense for the Islanders. To make room for him Radek Martinek will serve as healthy scratch for the team tonight. Additionally, Josh Bailey will return to the lineup after serving as a healthy scratch last night. To make room for him in the lineup, Brock Nelson will join Eric Boulton and Radek Martinek as the teams healthy scratches.
