Tonight, our Islanders snapped their four game losing streak with a 3-1 victory over the Predators. Here are some of my notes from the game:
-Another solid outing by Poulin tonight. It seems to me that Poulin could be leapfrogging Nabokov on the goalie depth chart with his recent stretch of solid play.
-Another solid game from Brock Nelson. I know he is playing with Tavares but as a rookie to fit in on that line and not be over-matched or anything is definitely a plus. After Vanek comes back, I think Nelson should be put on the second line over Bailey who has done nothing for a couple weeks now.
-Solid game from Tavares tonight! Had the gift wrapped goal in the first period, and the nice little pass in the second period setting up Okposo's goal and shocking everyone in the arena by not shooting it.
-Penalty kill stepped up after struggling on the road trip going 2-2 on the PK tonight.
-Good to see the power play get another on the board for a consecutive game.
-We really need to get better on faceoffs. It is an underrated part of the game that I feel like we have struggled with pretty much all season.
Well, the first two periods tonight were quite the shift from the road trip. Given, Nashville is not one of the NHL's premier teams, but the Islanders dominated them through 40 minutes. While the third period wasn't as good, it was still far from the worst third period we have played this year. Hopefully, they can build on this game and start a little winning streak the rest of the week.
Next Game: Thursday @ Home Against the Kings
