Just minutes before the NHL lockout, which started roughly 20 minutes ago, the Islanders announced that they had came to terms with forward Matt Martin on a 4 year deal worth 1 million a year.
Matt set the NHL record last season for most hits in a season. On top of that he put up career high numbers on the offensive side of the puck.
Fans had started getting nervous after he rejected his qualifying offer a few months ago with training camp rolling around along with Wangs policy of not being able to play if your not signed by the start of camp.
Although, with the labor dispute camp probably isn't going to being on time, at least fans know whenever things do begin Matt Martin will be wearing an Islanders sweater.
